"text": "hi friends! this year, i've been working on a general purpose, native terminal coding agent harness. i remember being absolutely struck the first time i ever used claude code and it could just do things. i'm also a big fan of crush and pi.
it's pretty early on. i still have yet to build all the higher-level behaviors that make something go from a harness to a proper agent. it turns out, making a coding agent is incredibly hard because you have to strap a development environment to an llm. in my hubris, i had thought "oh—it's just a terminal app that calls some api's!"
i'm trying to provide all the things that i think an agent should have out of the box: subagents, sandboxing, compaction, cross-platform support, a beautiful interface, etc. i would be absolutely delighted if you'd give it a go (as far as safety goes, the sandbox tends to be too restrictive rather than too lenient—i'm trying to figure it out as i go).
i made bestie because i don't like it when agents do things and don't tell you what they're doing. or when the harness itself won't provide visibility into things. so bestie is architected around being able to inspect anything that happens in an inspector pane that shows you the inputs/outputs of every tool call, background job update, and shell process.",

"text": "Hi HN! Jigsaw Haiku was originally designed with my puzzles site The Daily Baffle (https://dailybaffle.com) in mind. But once I had built it, I realized it just didn't quite fit with the aesthetic of the Baffle's other puzzles, so I decided to put it up separately.
While most of the puzzles on the Daily Baffle were intended to be rather challenging, for this one I really just wanted to make something somewhat beautiful and relaxing. It wasn't so much about coming up with a highly original idea or a difficult challenge as much as just combining a few familiar ideas in a pleasant way.
It was coded entirely by Claude, with me carefully prodding it on to achieve the look I wanted. I had hand-coded everything on the Daily Baffle, but those days are past now. I was pretty thrilled with the "window through the fog" effect that CC was able to achieve from my written design spec. I wasn't sure if that would come out right, but it did. It's just a static react app hosted on Render, no backend. The haikus are handwritten with the help of a massive list of generated nature concepts alongside possible metaphor angles. The art is generated by Gemini and ChatGPT. I wish it was hand-painted, but that would be prohibitively expensive and time-consuming and then this puzzle would likely not exist.
Happy to answer any questions, and encourage anyone to check out the Baffle if they like harder puzzles!",

"text": "Ptree consolidates of 11 taxonomic trees, both categorical like we used in school (plant, animalia) and phylogenetic (evolutionary descent), with instant crosswalk between them.
Across those trees it overlays 41 visual properties (categorical and numerical) assembled from hundreds of biological traits and sources. Color the tree by habitat, nutrition, size, longevity, even see vertical range of birds and depth of fish visually.
The backend is 800 GB of raw data distilled through a 9-step build process that reconciles and links all 11 trees along with hundreds of traits so every node in every tree gets all the properties. Every color and number presented retains and shows its provenance: original wording, citation, and license.
The frontend uses a custom Miller column implementation with fold-away gutter, all composited animation (no frameworks, pure DOM mutation). Use +'s to try to confuse it by expanding many branches and it will fold them away and route edges around them.
Made by the creator of ptable.com, a popular interactive periodic table website around since 1997.",

"text": "Built for evil-maid/insider-access scenarios where your device passcode may be known.
Malinois’ singular objective is to guarantee, to the greatest extent possible, that you either return to an unattended device in the same state you left it, or know that unauthorized access was attempted (or succeeded).
With Guided Access on, Side Button option off, and iOS set to ask before new wired accessories connect, there is no viable scenario (short of an already compromised device) where a tamper can occur without an indication.
Designed around the iOS Guided Access feature, which is novel in the space as far as I can tell. This solves the iOS backgrounding issue that relegated the Guardian Project’s now-defunct Haven app to Android, and though the app’s goal is different, a lot of the same functionality exists.
My goal with the post is feedback and hopefully some small, interested user base covering scenarios different from mine: This is a personal project, I am not an iOS developer, and the code is 100% Claude. My workflow is basically build with Claude, review and red-team with GPT/Deepseek/etc., then device testing with personal devices, and that can only take me so far.
I think the concept and GA differentiating it from existing apps is real, but I also think the models are a bit sycophantic when it comes to discussing that, and would love to have people smarter than me poking holes in my premises and assumptions, not to mention the code.
Guided Access: https://support.apple.com/en-us/111795
Haven: https://guardianproject.info/apps/org.havenapp.main/
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/malinois-device-anti-tampering...",

"text": "Asm Editor is an open-source browser IDE for writing, running, and debugging assembly.
It currently supports M68K, Z80, MIPS, RISC-V (32- and 64-bit), and x86-64. The debugger includes breakpoints, backward stepping, execution history, register and memory inspection, and other tools intended to make assembly easier to understand.
I recently added graphics, keyboard, and mouse support, so it’s now possible to build small games and other interactive programs.
The project is aimed primarily at university students learning assembly. The M68K emulator takes inspiration from Easy68K, while the MIPS emulator uses the same emulator as MARS. Both are commonly used in computer science courses.
I’m also working on interactive courses for those architectures, allowing students to learn and experiment directly in the app.
The app also has architecture documentation, shareable files, project templates, and tools for professors to create exams.
You can create a project from one of the templates to quickly try it out. I’d love to hear your feedback, particularly from people who teach or have learned assembly.
Demo: https://asm-editor.specy.app/projects/create (pick the language and template you prefer)
Repo: https://github.com/Specy/asm-editor",
